Shree Mahakaleshwar of Ujjain is one of the twelve celebrated Jyotirlingas in India. The temple’s glory is vividly described in various Puranas, highlighting its importance in Hindu mythology. Ujjain is often referred to as the temple city due to its abundance of temples from different eras. It also hosts the world’s largest religious gathering, Simhastha (Kumbha Mela), every 12 years on the banks of the holy Shipra River. Known as the Greenwich of India, Ujjain is where the first meridian of longitude passes through. The Shri Ram Ghat is one of the most ancient bathing ghats, and legend says Lord Krishna completed his schooling at the Sandipani Ashram here.
